Job Overview

The Mechanic Assembler I is responsible for the disassembly, reassembly, testing, and painting of natural gas engine and compressor components. This role requires mechanical aptitude, precision, and a strong commitment to safety and quality standards in a shop environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

Assemble and disassemble mechanical components per engineering drawings and specifications
Perform hand grinding, painting, and preservation of parts
Conduct functional testing and complete inspection documentation
Operate pneumatic / hydraulic tools, cranes, and lift trucks
Maintain a clean and organized work area
Follow safety protocols and complete risk assessments
Report discrepancies and safety concerns to supervisors
Support lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives
Perform minor maintenance on tools and equipment
Comply with company policies, EHS standards, and quality regulations
Wear required PPE and adhere to safety procedures

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED

1–2 years of experience in mechanical assembly, disassembly, or heavy equipment maintenance

Valid driver’s license

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in physically demanding environments

Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and holidays

Ability to read blueprints and use precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, dial indicators)

Forklift and overhead crane certification (or ability to obtain)

Competencies

Mechanical aptitude, preferably with oil & gas equipment

Strong teamwork and communication skills

Attention to detail and commitment to quality

Ability to interpret technical documents and follow instructions

Safety-conscious and proactive in identifying hazards

Time management and organizational skills

Adaptability to changing production schedules
