TRC Companies, Inc., a pioneer in groundbreaking scientific and engineering services, is seeking an experienced Staff Scientist to join our Permitting, Planning and Licensing team in Birmingham, AL .
Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS
The position requires a strong technical background and a solid reputation of building and maintaining key client relationships, and will include :
- Conducting biological field surveys which may include wetland / waterbody (in accordance with USACE requirements), habitat, or wildlife and plant species-specific surveys; conduct breeding bird and raptor surveys.
- Preparing wetland reports and obtain jurisdictional determinations.
- Preparing Joint Permit Applications for USACE Section 10 / 404 and state permit applications.
- Preparing technical reports / correspondence.
- Providing support for mitigation activities including mitigation banking options for client projects or permittee-responsible options requiring the development of Wetlands Mitigation Plans, mitigation site design, and conducting monitoring / reporting to Agencies.
- Communicating and coordinating with agencies during permitting review process and attending meetings with clients and Federal, State and local agencies such as pre-application meetings, geologic review meetings, etc.
- Preparing reports from field surveys.
- Providing technical support in responding to requests for proposals.

Compensation : Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.
Other Compensation : Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company’s annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
