Public Agency Resources (PARS), a subsidiary of Willdan Group Inc., has a part time opening for a Fire Inspector in Phoenix, AZ . The Fire Inspector will be responsible for inspections of residential, commercial, industrial and other buildings during and after construction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct inspections of residential, commercial, educational, institutional, hazardous, and industrial properties to determine and enforce compliance with fire safety laws and ordinances.
- Reviews building and site plans for fire access and water supplies, and works with developers, architects, contractors, water purveyors and building officials to ensure code compliance.
- Inspects new and existing properties under construction for compliance with approved plans and fire protection specifications.
- Performs technical inspections of building construction and testing of fire protection system elements.
- Issues permits governing hazardous materials, hazardous conditions, and hazardous operations, inspecting for compliance with permit requirements.
- Investigates complaints of fire and life safety hazards.
- Prepares written correspondence and reports, and issues written orders to eliminate fire hazards.
- Works with jurisdictions to file complaints and assist in prosecutions as needed.
- May assist in determination for fire origin and cause investigation.
- Meets with, informs, instructs, and educates members of the business community and the public on the hazards of fires and on fire safety practices.
- Researches, interprets, and applies fire prevention laws and ordinances.
- Writes letters and reports and maintains necessary records.
- Works with other enforcement agencies to conduct investigations, inspections, and promote public safety.
