As a film operations coordinator, you will oversee inventory management, repair processes, and all maintenance needs for film equipment to ensure functionality. You will manage the WebCheckout reservation system, providing an efficient, functional, and well-maintained process for borrowing equipment. Responsibilities include conducting training sessions on equipment usage, troubleshooting technical issues, and enforcing policies related to damage, late returns, and other concerns. Additionally, you will maintain the cleanliness of equipment, labs, and related spaces, as well as research and recommend new technologies or software to keep resources up to date.
The person in this role will assist with film-related events, exhibitions, and workshops by providing necessary equipment and technical expertise. They will closely collaborate with faculty and staff to ensure equipment availability for course and project needs, oversee compliance of all equipment with safety guidelines and SCAD policies, and maintain accurate records of tool usage, repairs, and purchases. This will also include managing budgets and reports. Additionally, the individual will assist with group projects alongside the IT department during academic breaks to ensure classroom readiness. They will consistently demonstrate proper behavior in the studio.
The ideal candidate is passionate about videography, eager to learn, and possesses excellent skills in customer service, communication, organization, schedule management, and troubleshooting. The candidate also exhibits strong interpersonal skills to ensure positive interactions with students and faculty, as well as time management and resourcefulness. They are available to work flexible hours, are consistently punctual, and are eager to educate. Confidence in their abilities and the capacity to share knowledge with others is essential, as is the ability to work independently with a strong focus on tasks.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in cinematography
- Proficiency with cinema cameras and lenses, Windows and MacOS, peripheral equipment, and educational technologies
- Experience with the technical and safety guidelines required for film shoots and cinematography equipment (e.g., grip, lighting, and audio tools)
- Knowledge of the methods, materials, and tools used in the repair and maintenance of specialized cinematography equipment
Certificates, licenses, and registrations:
- Valid driver’s license
Travel required:
- Less than 10%
Work hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
