Teaches a full range of skills andknowledge for the certificate program in medical coding. Prepares students topass the CPC examination.
ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS
Presents facilitative, well prepared, organized, and clear lectures and classroom activities consistent with the course syllabus (AAPC curriculum, medical terminology, anatomy & physiology, advanced medical coding, HCPCS coding, ICD-10 coding) and school policies
Continually promotes students’ development and effective use of skills in areas such as critical and analytical thinking, evaluation, communication, professionalism, customer service, computation, problem solving, and decision-making

Ability to instruct through remote and in-person delivery (Blackboard, virtual classroom, and / or online using a Learning Management System)
Provides the student with timely information and feedback on his / her academic progress relative to quizzes, tests, homework and projects
Maintains accurate, up-to-date records of student academic and attendance performance
Possesses a thorough knowledge and understanding of all College policies, and actively participate in their implementation and enforcement
Follows all retention policies of the College to ensure students are in attendance
Performs other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATIONAND EXPERIENCE / TRAINING
Must be a Certified Professional Coder Instructor (CPC-I) with the AAPC
Minimum of three years of experience as a Medical Coding Specialist in the field
Minimum of three years of teaching or related field experience
Demonstrated experience managing key metrics
KNOWLEDGE,SKILLS and ABILITIES
Possess excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
Demonstrated intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Ability to assess and grade the progress of students
Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
Possess sensitivity to appropriately respond to the needs of a diverse population
