About the Role : Picture yourself as a mechanic, but instead of just tinkering under the hood of your average car, you're the captain of our ground fleet at Raleigh-Durham Airport! Under the watchful eye of our Fleet Manager and with the steadfast support of our Lead Fleet Mechanic, you'll be the engine behind our fleet's smooth operation.
From the sleek lines of cars to the rugged construction equipment, the mighty trucks to the specialized vehicles, and even the powerful generators and engines, your expertise will be the key to keeping them soaring high, a responsibility that we trust you to handle with pride. - Maximum – Based on experience
- Minimum - $23.76 What You’ll Do :
- Performs complex diagnosis; adjusts, repairs and services a variety of light vehicles, construction equipment, trucks, transit buses, specialized vehicles, generator engines, and related equipment.
- Assists in developing predictive maintenance approach and tasks.
- Services vehicles and equipment, repairs and replaces gas and diesel driven equipment parts.
- Performs routine service work such as oil changes, lubrication, and tire repairs.
- Checks suspension for proper wheel alignment; resurfaces brake drums; and relines brakes.
- Repairs air conditioning systems and emission systems, fabricates parts, welds vehicles, signs, gates, mowing decks, and exhaust systems.
- Performs state vehicle inspections on airport vehicles.
- Performs diversified complex electrical work on vehicles and equipment using schematics and electrical testers.
- Repairs mowers, leaf machines, and other ground equipment.
- Decommissions retired vehicles and equipment for state surplus auction; removes electronic equipment, decals, and other specified equipment.
- Provide support for planned, unplanned and emergency operations at the airport to include special events, inclement weather (hurricanes, snow / ice, tornadoes), aircraft accidents, and other events that may interfere with normal day-to-day operations. What You Need : Education : Required :
- High school diploma or equivalency Experience : Required :
- 5 years of experience in automotive or diesel and heavy equipment repairs Preferred :
- 7 years of experience in automotive or diesel and heavy equipment repairs Licenses or Certifications : Required :
- Valid NC Driver’s License
- CDL class B License (or ability to obtain within 9 months)
- State Safety Inspection certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of start date
- On Board Diagnosis II (OBDII) emission testing certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of start date
- Air Conditioning certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of start date. Preferred :
