Job Description
We have an immediate opening at the Department of Employee Trust Funds (ETF) for a Data Engineer to participate in data integration and data warehousing for a new Invoicing system. This is part of a larger effort to modernize our core business systems. Prior experience with invoicing, billing, or payment systems is preferred. The duration of this position is expected to be 15 months. This position will work on a small, collaborative team that uses agile practices to deliver value to our business partners.
· Gathering requirements and developing technical specifications for ETL – 6 years
· Using ETL tools to design ETL jobs (ETL 6 years, preferably 2 years of with Alteryx)
· Developing various types of data loads (e.g. incremental, history/full, survivorship rules) – 6 years
· Implementing change data capture (CDC) – 4 years
· Testing and debugging ETL – 6 years
· Developing complex SQL - 6 years
· ETL job scheduling – 2 years
· Loading data warehouses using ETL tools – 2 years (preferably with SQL Server)
· Data integration for invoicing, billing, or payment systems – 2 years preferred
· Management of multiple ETL tools
· Experience with data quality tools and frameworks
· Using source code version control software – github preferred
· Mentoring to others on ETL development
· Managing multiple, concurrent projects and tasks
· Having strong interpersonal skills including communication, mentoring, collaborating, and team building
Requirements
Top Skills & Years of Experience: Must Have: · 8+ years of experience gathering requirements from users: o identifying impacted business processes o assessing business needs o identifying IT solution integration. o GAP analysis o SWOT analysis · 6+ years of experience designing technical and business requirement documentation including: o wireframes or screen mockups, o context diagrams o benefits realization o business process models o workflow diagrams o traceability matrix · 4+ years of experience with Agile methodology / SCRUM processes and ceremonies including: o Daily Scrum o Sprint Planning o Backlog Grooming o Sprint Reviews o Sprint Retrospective · 3+ years of experience working with Azure DevOps backlog management, Kanban board, Sprint board, etc. · 5+ years of experience eliciting and decomposing requirements into user stories and acceptance criteria. · 4+ years of experience working as a business analyst on financial systems. · Experience writing test plans and use cases. · Working knowledge of Systems Engineering Methodology (SEM) and Project Management Methodology (PMM) · Senior level understanding of the secure application development lifecycle (SADLC) · Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Preferred: · Prior experience working with State or Federal government.
