Job Description

About the role

Picture your day beginning at a clean, organized workstation in an AS9100D-certified shop. You power up a CNC lathe or mill-turn center, review a customer print, load the correct program, and run the first part to exacting specifications. While one job is cutting, you’re measuring features with micrometers and calipers, documenting results on the job traveler, and prepping the next setup. If you enjoy precision, problem-solving, and seeing flawless parts leave the dock, this is your kind of work.

What you'll do

  • Operate CNC turning, milling, and mill-turn equipment to meet customer print requirements, including first-piece runs and in-process verification.
  • Adjust and refine CNC programs; implement revisions and validate outcomes when changes are made.
  • Deburr components to specification and ensure parts meet surface and edge requirements.
  • Identify, segregate, and report nonconforming product and foreign object debris (FOD); maintain lot control and part identification at all times.
  • Use gages and inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, gage blocks) to confirm critical features to the print callouts.
  • Accurately record results on travelers and associated documentation; report damaged or nonconforming parts to team leads / management.
  • Assist with final packaging and shipping activities to keep orders moving.
  • Adhere to AS9100D and customer-specific quality requirements and report safety concerns immediately.

Lead-track opportunity

Interested in leadership? The role offers a path to overseeing a turning or milling area—owning schedules, troubleshooting, programming updates, and collaborating with the counterpart lead on first-piece inspections.

What makes you successful here

  • Strong print reading skills and working knowledge of GD&T (formal GD&T understanding preferred).
  • Comfort running more than one machine and measuring parts while other work is in cycle.
  • Excellent dexterity, attention to detail, and commitment to cleanliness and organization.
  • Safety-first mindset and a team-oriented approach within an AS9100 environment.
  • Proficiency with measurement devices; ability to interpret results against tight tolerances.
  • Clear communication and solid math aptitude.
  • Familiarity with an AS9100 shop; Brown & Sharpe Micro-Val CMM and CMM Manager software experience are pluses.
  • Training & background

  • High school diploma or GED (vocational or non-vocational).
  • AS9100 awareness; familiarity with Jet Machined Products inspection forms and recordkeeping is beneficial.
  • Reporting line

Reports to the Turning / Milling Lead; if serving as Lead, reports to the General Manager.

    Physical & work environment

  • Able to lift and move machined parts; stand for extended periods.
  • Clean, relatively quiet facility; hearing protection required in some areas.
  • Eye protection required for certain operations due to potential hazards.
  • Schedule

    Occasional overtime as workload requires.
