Job descriptionConduct system compliance analysis with best practices and security guidelines. Plan for infrastructure growth and capacity utilization. Troubleshoot network and system issues, engaging vendor support as needed. Support Business Continuity / Disaster Recovery planning and execution. Maintain telecommunication systems to minimize downtime, including telephone, data networks, routers, switches, firewalls, and file / web servers. Perform root cause analysis and implement problem resolutions. Travel occasionally to substation locations. Minimum 5 years of experience in a network administrator role, preferably in a lead position. Strong knowledge of TCP / IP networks, Layer 2 protocols, and routing protocols (OSPF, BGP). Experience with system administration (Windows, Linux, VMware). Proficiency in configuring routers, switches, and firewalls (Cisco and Palo Alto experience preferred). Familiarity with security tools such as ManageEngine, Tripwire, Nessus, Nmap, LogRhythm, and DUO two-factor authentication. Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, or a related field is preferred. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Attention to detail and excellent interpersonal skills. Security certifications (SANS, Security+, CISSP) and NERC CIP experience are a plus. Knowledge of SCADA / EMS systems (e.g., OSI SCADA) is preferred but not required.
IT Network Administrator
We are seeking an experienced IT Network Administrator to join our team. Reporting to the Technology Manager, this role will provide essential technical services and support for IT infrastructure, SCADA / EMS systems, networks, and security. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with peers and vendors to ensure system reliability, security, and compliance.
This position involves managing problem resolution, system upgrades, change management, evidence collection, and providing timely after-hours support when necessary. Additionally, the role requires maintaining compliance with NERC Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) Standards and other applicable reliability standards in coordination with Operations, Asset Management, and Compliance teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain network equipment (firewalls, routers, switches, wireless systems) and implement system updates, patches, and upgrades.
- Maintain cybersecurity measures, including firewalls and IPS / IDS systems.
- Assist with server administration and other IT systems as needed.
- Conduct vulnerability scanning, baseline monitoring, and evidence collection to ensure compliance with NERC CIP standards.
- Ensure reliable system backups and recovery operations.
- Enforce security policies for corporate and operational networks while advising senior management on potential security risks.
- Monitor and maintain system and network availability, conducting preventive maintenance to ensure stability.
- Provide occasional after-hours support for SCADA, EMS, and corporate systems.
- Develop and adhere to procedures for cybersecurity, change management, and IT processes.
- Participate in industry forums and ongoing training to enhance technical knowledge.
