Position is a Licensed Practical Nurse providing routine care and treatment of patients, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, within a state correctional facility. Responsible for providing direct nursing care to patients, within the scope of practice.Responsibilities to include but not limited to the following duties :
- Screening, observing and assessing patients.
- Providing basic wound care and personal care to patients.
- Delivering routine respiratory therapy and other treatments, catheter and colostomy care, collecting vital signs and specimens, preparing and administering medications, administering / interpreting TB skin tests.
- Observing and recording pertinent patient information.
- Responding to emergencies.
- Assisting the Registered Nurse and Physician.This is a statewide job posting with a variation of shift assignments according to facility; therefore, the availability of specific shifts will be discussed during the interview process. This department includes State Prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as the division of Community Supervision. They also coordinate with specialists and other clinical consultants outside of prisons throughout the state to ensure comprehensive health and well-being towards a safe transition from prison, improving public health, and decreasing recidivism. DAC uses the Merit-Based Recruitment and Selection Plan to fill positions subject to the State Human Resources Act with the most qualified individuals.
