Employment Type : Part timeShift : Day ShiftDescription : Position Summary : The Registered Mammography / Breast Sonography performs mammography examinations and breast ultrasound examinations. This position also assists in mammographic, stereotactic, and ultrasound guided invasive procedures as well as performs and records the results of Quality Assurance and Quality control procedures.What the Registered Mammography / Breast Sonography Tech. w ill Do : Performs and records the results of quality assurance and quality control procedures in accordance with Federal, State, American College of Radiology (ACR) and accreditation governing bodies.Mammography Technologists trained in breast ultrasound and stereotactic procedures assist the Radiologist with biopsies and needle localizations.Determines whether a mammogram is screening or diagnostic study and appropriateness of ordered examinations.Performs mammography examinations and educating patients on Hospital services and treatments.Acquires patient history & explains exam and procedures and, assuring that patient and / or family understand scope of exam. Monitors safety and comfort of patient through the exam.What the Registered Mammography / Breast Sonography Tech. will Need : Completion of American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) approved Radiologic Technology Program.Preferred : Bachelor’s of Science degree (BS). Completion of accredited breast sonography course.American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) certification; registry eligible in mammography. Must maintain 24 continuing education credits per biennium to maintain registry status.Certification or recertification in Basic Life support (BLS) within three months of hire.Preferred : American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) certification in mammography and breast sonography. Must maintain 15continuing education credits per three years in Mammography to maintain registry. Must maintain 2 continuing education credits per year related to invasive breast procedures.One year of experience as a Registered Radiographer. Registry eligible in mammography.Preferred : One year of mammography experience including 3D mammography, stereotactic guided breast procedures.
