Job descriptionThe applicant must have a minimum of two (2) years prior work-related experience as a utility foreman, installing water, sewer and storm drain main lines. Oversee the planning, preparation, delivery and placement of underground utilities per project plans and specifications Lead and supervise crew to safely and efficiently execute the work assigned Develop and train field laborers in tasks necessary for successful completion of their assigned work. Identify and train future foremen and crew leaders. Able to read plans and grade sheets and must be able to set manholes and storm drain structures. Comply with procedures as outlined in the company procedures manual. Supervise field labor and subcontractors onsite Demonstrate solid team leadership and assist with their training and development. Be accessible to employees to address questions or concerns. Conduct pre and post operating equipment checks Conduct daily jobsite safety items including pre-task plans, job hazard analysis (JHA), trench inspections and fined space permitting Ensure pipeline QA / QC work is meeting all applicable building codes and standard details and specifications. Conduct and perform work in a professional manner Experienced with testing procedures of sewer line, storm drain and water line Comply with company hiring, transfers, and termination procedures. Maintain effective relationships with customers, subcontractors, vendors and suppliers. Comply with TFC and OSHA safety standards and company safety policies Supervise and / or provide loading and unloading of materials, tools and any variety of equipment. Supervise or perform the hand excavation of footings, trenches, or fine grading of foundations / slabs as directed by supervisor. Supervise or carry materials, tools or equipment to work areas as required. Supervise and / or perform clean-up of jobsites. Operate light duty truck or machinery as required. This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. The employee may perform other related duties as requested to meet the ongoing needs of the organization. High school and / or GED and / or relevant experience. Minimum of 5 years related construction experience and a minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience. Must have or be able to obtain a valid driver’s license. Requires the knowledge of simple math and be able to read and understand blueprints, specifications and standard details Experience and knowledgeable in the use of pipe-laser and rotary laser for installing utilities on-grade / slope with proper alignment. Able to work in a safe manner, follow OSHA guidelines and keep the work area clean. Possess excellent communication and organizational skills. Reliable attendance. Must have a positive attitude and willingness to work in a team environment. Experience with public utility work located within Right-of-Way Thorough understand of pipe-laying and experience installing sewer, water and storm drain. Experienced in both new construction, repair and rehabilitation type work Basic computer skills and use of tablet for tracking of time and quantities in-place used for billings Basic knowledge of project schedule and sequencing Possess the knowledge to inspect the work of subcontractors to insure conformance to blueprints, specifications, and applicable state safety regulations. Job Purpose : The Pipe Foreman will assist and support Project Superintendent with implementing the field management of TFC workforce, coordination, safety, scheduling, housekeeping and site storage. Responsible for recommending quality improvement, safety improvement, purchasing controls, scheduling, manpower efficiencies, coordination of work and reporting.
