Wieland is hiring a Production Planner . The Planner will create and schedule production orders for the production floor to achieve and maintain excellent on-time performance, maximize yield, and minimize scrap. This role is located in Waterbury, CT, and will be fu lly on-site at the manufacturing facility.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable in a dynamic and evolving production environment demonstrating flexibility and problem-solving skills. This facility has a primarily make-to-order product mix.

Responsibilities

Production Planner Responsibilities :

Create and schedule all planned and production orders from stock. Prepare for shop floor and sequence in most efficient manner.

  • Plan production orders according to relevant processes and physically release them to the work centers.
  • Release and prioritize production orders in company software.
  • Ensure a constant and smooth flow of material and level the work load on each work center while achieving overall company goals.
  • Optimize yield and minimize scrap on production order from available metal.
  • Maximize inventory turns and material flow
  • Evaluate expedite requests to meet required dates and potential schedule impact.
  • Communicate deviations in schedule or changes to all relevant departments.
  • Coordinate major outages into production schedules and communicate with team.
  • Monitor pre material and communicate shortages.

Production Planner Qualifications :

  • 3-5 years' experience in production planning required
  • Experience with MRP planning software / system beneficial.
  • SAP experience a plus
  • Quintiq experience a plus
  • Familarity with (or working in) a unionized environment.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Communicate proactively with cross-functional teams
  • Continuous improvement focused
  • Mathematical skills for figuring out best yields and minimal scrap
  • Someone who is proactive in identifying opportunities and solving problems, while also recognizing when to ask for support

  • Involves periods of sitting at desk and computer, standing, walking, and negotiating stairs, ladders, elevated catwalks and platforms in hot or cold production environment on slippery surfaces for the purpose of directing operations and evaluating situations.
  • Perform duties under pressure of deadlines.
  • Ability to travel as requested periodically.
