About the Role
We are seeking an Accountant to join our client’s innovative team. A leading network of community development financial institutions (CDFIs) empowers underserved communities by expanding access to capital and financial services. They drive economic justice through training, advocacy, and support for initiatives that promote sustainable growth and social impact. In this role, you will be responsible for managing financial records, ensuring compliance with regulations, and supporting strategic decision-making through accurate reporting and analysis. You will play a key role in maintaining the organization's financial integrity by overseeing day-to-day accounting operations and driving process improvements.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management
Prepare, examine, and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable regulations and standards.
Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities.
Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliations to maintain accurate financial records.
Budgeting & Forecasting
Assist in the preparation and monitoring of budgets, providing variance analysis and financial forecasts.
Analyze financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for cost-saving initiatives.
Compliance & Reporting
Ensure all financial transactions comply with federal, state, and local regulations.
Prepare and submit tax filings, audits, and other required reports accurately and on time.
Support external audits by providing necessary documentation and addressing queries.
Process Improvement
Identify opportunities to enhance financial processes and systems for increased efficiency and accuracy.
Implement best practices in accounting procedures and internal controls.
Stay updated on accounting standards and regulations, recommending adjustments to policies as needed.
Collaboration
Work closely with internal teams to support financial decision-making and project cost analysis.
Liaise with external stakeholders, including auditors, vendors, and regulatory bodies, to ensure seamless financial operations.
Qualifications and Skills
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Experience
Proven experience as an Accountant, with expertise in financial reporting and compliance.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Technical Skills
Experience with financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
Familiarity with tax regulations and compliance requirements.
Soft Skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Effective communication skills for working with cross-functional teams and presenting financial data to non-financial stakeholders.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
