Description
Supervises and provides training in the maintenance and repair of rail vehicles and other related equipment in the area of Rail Fleet.
Examples of Duties
- Conducts classroom and individualized training on all aspects of equipment and vehicle repair, testing, and maintenance in the area of Rail Fleet
- Prepares lesson plans, course outlines, schedules, and testing performance exams
- Provides hands-on demonstration in the repair and maintenance of various components of the rail systems
- Develops detailed technical training and testing materials
- Coordinates specialized training needs with Manager, Equipment Maintenance Instruction
- Reports to various work locations to provide training and / or technical support to rail maintenance personnel
- Keeps up to date with current technology by attending factory update training sessions
- Establishes safety guidelines on maintenance procedures
- Evaluates and tests trainees
- Operates shop tools and equipment for demonstration purposes related to rail systems
- Reviews, updates, and distributes new manuals and wiring schematics
- Provides orientation to personnel on new equipment, systems, and vehicles
- Analyzes vendor training materials for accuracy and system compatibility
- Prepares reports and correspondence
- Serves as technical expert for troubleshooting maintenance problems
- Complies with California General Orders as required by the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) and other applicable laws and regulations
- Develops and assesses safety programs
- Provides technical expertise to other department personnel
- Supervises subordinates
- Accounts for subordinates and personal compliance with all of Metro's safety rules, polices, and procedures
