The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is seeking a dynamic Operations Research Analyst (GS-1515-13) to serve at Air Force Pentagon-Arlington, Directorate of Programs (A8P), Pentagon in Arlington, VA.
Salary : $117,962 – $153,354 based on experience
Telework : Up to 60% telework possible based on experience
Travel : Up to 25% Travel Possible

Must be able to obtain & maintain a Top Secret (TS) clearance.

In this position, you will serve as an Air Force Program Analyst in the Program Integration Division, Department of the Air Force Deputy Chief of Staff for Plans and Programs : analyzing the Air Force Programs across the Future Year’s Defense Program and develop and coordinate background data to present and justify Air Force Programs to the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Office of Management and Budget, and Congress.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS :
Degree from an accredited institution in one of the following disciplines : operations research; mathematics; computer science; physical science; engineering; economics or at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus. Advanced degree(s) are preferred.TRANSCRIPTS MUST BE INCLUDED.
RECRUITMENT KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs) :
In-depth knowledge of a broad range of operations research analysis techniques and possession of analytical abilities.
Expert knowledge of quantitative techniques and methods used to develop, adapt, modify, and apply models to resolve problems or define and clarify alternative solutions.
Skill to negotiate and / or defend findings and program support concepts.
Ability to lead study teams; originate new ideas, projects, and methodologies; and execute projects and / or studies within established financial and / or time constraints.
Ability to develop and utilize appropriate data collection techniques and design, build, and use models and simulation techniques.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; negotiate complex issues; and maintain good working relations.
Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
Overtime and weekend work schedule may be required as workload demands.
Must exhibit a high degree of judgement, resourcefulness, originality, and the ability to foresee the impact of changing technology.
DUTIES :
Performs a broad range of operations research analyses assignment entailing unique problems, creativity, innovative use of techniques, advanced approaches, and / or new technologies.
Utilizes scientific inquiry in the independent development of mathematical models and computer programs to evaluate and predict the ability to support assigned projects, studies, or problems.
Provide technical guidance, advisory support, and assistance on an entire project and / or major phases for broad and varied operations.
Attend meetings, conferences, briefings, and seminars related to program planning, advanced technologies, and support systems concepts.
