This is a temporary, full-time position that will run from April 21, 2025, to September 12, 2025. This is an onsite position with time shared between Butterworth and Blodgett Hospitals.
Job Summary
Provides spiritual care, counsel, education, and emotional support to patients, families, and staff members of all faith traditions. Assists with referrals to particular faith group leaders when indicated and / or requested. Participates in CPE Education time and completes assignments in a timely manner. Participates in regular on call shifts in and outside of education hours.
Essential Functions
- Participates in program didactics, group reflection, individual supervision and other educational activities.
- Completes and turns in necessary assignments required by the education program in a timely manner.
- Adheres to ethical principles of the CPE program, Spiritual Care department, and Corewell Health. Demonstrates compassion, integrity and respect for others.
- Effectively collaborates and participates with colleagues regarding patient care and educational matters.
- Provides spiritual care and emotional support to patients, families, and team members. Facilitates their spiritual understanding, emotional coping and adjustment in the face of illness, injury or death.
- Documents clearly her / his interactions with patients and families, including assessments and plans, in a manner which is useful to departmental and interdisciplinary colleagues.
- Collaborates closely with departmental colleagues in providing seamless spiritual care by receiving referrals, making follow-up visits and providing hand-off reports. Participates in schedules with a flexibility that helps the team provide continuous coverage.
- Integrates her / his professional practice and style into assigned interdisciplinary healthcare teams in ways that enhance their overall efforts to provide excellent, whole-person care.
