Employment Type : Full time Shift : 12 Hour Day Shift Description : Unit Secretary -FT- Dayshift - 5th Surgical Unit - St. Mary's Hospital, Athens, GA Position Purpose : St. Mary's is looking for an experienced and compassionate Unit Secretary to help on their 5th Surgical Unit in a FT dayshift position. What you will do : The Unit Secretary supports the assigned unit by facilitating communication with patients, staff, physicians, visitors and ancillary departments. The Unit Secretary directs incoming calls and responds to patient calls. The Unit Secretary enters physician's orders in the Information System. The Unit Secretary maintains patient's charts, unit files and secretarial supply levels. The Unit Secretary is responsible for maintaining a safe and orderly environment. What you will need : Licensure / Certification / Registration : Nursing Assistant certification preferred. BLS, thru American Heart Association, required at time of hire. Education : Must be a high school graduate or have GED equivalent. Experience : Hospital or Clinical experience preferred Special Qualifications : Computer skills required. Medical terminology preferred.
