Senior Buyer – Newton IA    About TPI We are a leading wind-blade manufacturer and the only independent wind blade manufacturer with a global footprint. We are enabling many of the industry’s leading wind turbine original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to outsource the manufacturing of a larger portion of their wind blades, thus expanding their global wind blade capacity. We manufacture advanced composite products to our customers’ exact specifications in facilities designed, built, and strategically located either near our customers’ target markets or in low-cost, world-class locations, to minimize total delivered cost. In addition, we provide global field service maintenance and repairs for wind turbine OEMs and asset owners by leveraging our global footprint and approximately 12,000 capable associates. We are building a growing global team of experienced technicians to provide best-in-class wind blade service capabilities.  About the Role The Sr. Buyer is responsible for supporting the overall control and movement of materials used within the manufacturing process. Your role will be critical in maintaining our inventory levels and ensuring that we are getting the best possible prices for the products we need to ensure on-time delivery of products and customer satisfaction. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Procure direct and indirect raw materials, services, and equipment as required to support plant operations.
• Work with TPI Global Sourcing team to ensure that designated and qualified / approved customer materials are utilized.
• Plan and issue purchase orders to suppliers based on material requirements.
• Manage supplier performance to contractual commitments and delivery requirements and quality standards.
• Generate lowest Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) via negotiating, alternate sourcing or process improvements.
• Drive inventory reduction using lean principles, (e.g., Kanban and VMI) internally and externally.
• Improve material flow though lean manufacturing systems internally and with external suppliers.
• Develop and implement system improvements through Oracle and Excel to better support operations, reporting of metrics and improve material flow.
• Act as first point of escalation to resolve supplier issues and concerns.
• Effectively and efficiently transition newly qualified materials into the supply chain.
• Resolve accounts payable issues.
• Ensure that company intellectual property is always protected through implementation of non-disclosure agreements and / or appropriate contractual terms, specifications and statement of work. Who we’re looking for : Bachelor’s degree in business management, accounting / finance, engineering, or other relevant plus 8 years procurement experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. CIPS and / or APICS certification preferred.
• Proven purchasing experience, preferably within a heavy manufacturing environment.
• Ability to add value, reduce costs and make business improvements
• Contract management and supplier experience.
• Project management experience.
• Strong technical knowledge and understanding of manufacturing processes and components and supply chain management.
• Computer literate, to include advanced Excel skills Location This position is on site at our wind blade manufacturing site in Newton, Iowa. Relocation assistance is available.
