Job description
OVERVIEW
The Server represents Park Tavern on Washington Square with the highest levels of hospitality, professionalism, and sanitation safety. The Server must interact with restaurant guests, team members, and management in a professional and collaborative manner to create an exemplary and safe dining experience. The Server provides food and drinks to guests in an efficient, timely, and friendly manner.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Cultivate one of the most welcoming spaces in San Francisco—a place for locals and tourists alike to see and be seen, ensuring a fun time for all.
Understand and perform to the expectations of the restaurant’s Service, Food, Beverage and Wine manuals.
Uphold a standard of exceptional hospitality, ensuring guests feel welcomed and valued from the moment they arrive.
Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment. Keep all service stations / areas clean and organized at all times. Handle all equipment with care and caution.
Articulate Park Tavern on Washington Squares's service style and ambiance concisely and effectively to guests.
Warmly welcome guests upon arrival, escorting them to their tables, providing menus, and offering personalized recommendations as necessary.
Efficiently manage guest orders and experiences, communicating special requests and dietary needs to the kitchen promptly and accurately.
Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of Park Tavern's menu offerings, including ingredients, preparation techniques, and flavor profiles.
Identify opportunities to enhance guest satisfaction and increase revenue through strategic upselling of menu items, beverages, and wine pairings.
Ensure timely and comprehensive food and beverage service, paying meticulous attention to presentation and detail – serve as the expert of Park Tavern’s food and beverage programs.
Proactively monitor guest feedback and address any concerns or requests promptly to ensure a positive dining experience.
Collaborate closely with kitchen, bar, and wine staff to facilitate seamless service and ensure timely delivery of orders.
Assist with table maintenance tasks, such as clearing and resetting tables, refilling water glasses, and maintaining cleanliness and organization in the dining area.
Handle guest payments responsibly and efficiently, processing cash, credit cards, and other forms of payment accurately.
Foster a positive work environment by actively contributing to team efforts and upholding restaurant standards.
Promptly report any issues or concerns to management to facilitate timely resolution.
Provide assistance with various service needs throughout the restaurant, including supporting front door and bar operations as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
2 years of front-of-house service experience in a San Francisco high-volume restaurant
Knowledge of Park Tavern’s food & beverage and hospitality philosophy & menus
Knowledge of standard restaurant service procedures, including wine service
Knowledge of each job function on the floor and understanding of the priorities of service
Knowledge of “The Big 8” allergens
Must be punctual and reliable
Must be available to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays
Ability to speak multiple languages, including English and Spanish, is a bonus
HEALTH & SAFETY
SF Food Handler’s Certification required or obtained shortly after hire date
Adhere to the highest standards of food safety, food handling, sanitation, workplace safety and hygiene requirements according to the SF Department of Health standards to ensure the health and safety of team members and guests
Adhere to COVID-19 sanitation protocols issued by the Center for Disease Control
Adhere to time and temperature protocols
