SKILLED LABORER – CHANNEL COAST DISTRICT / COASTAL FIELD DIVISION / SAN BUENAVENTURA STATE BEACH
This classification is subject to the Post and Bid process. Applications from a certification list, transfer change in class, reinstatement, re-employment, and training and development assignment candidates will be accepted for this position but consistent with the MOU / Bargaining Agreement BU12 / 13 contract cannot be acted upon unless the Post & Bid process does not result in a hire.
The reporting location for this position is Channel Coast District office at San Buenaventura State Beach, Ventura and will work under the direct supervision of the Senior Environmental Scientist.
The incumbent will also be part of a team assisting with the implementation of natural resource driven projects that are in keeping with Department policies, procedures, and standards. This position will, together with other Resource members, field staff, and multi-disciplinary experts, assist with the implementation of strategies and activities needed to complete natural resource projects throughout the district. We are looking for a self-starter who can work in a collaborative environment. Experience with use and routine maintenance of small power tools is desirable. Desirable qualifications to have and maintain a valid Qualified Applicator License (QAL) or Qualified Applicator Certificate (QAC).
Training and Development Assignments may be considered.
This position requires a valid Class C driver’s license. You must answer the questions addressing your driver’s license on your application. Ensure you provide your driver’s license number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and / or restrictions on your application.
This position is designated as not telework eligible.
The incumbent’s work schedule will be Monday through Friday from 8 : 00 AM to 4 : 30 PM.

Working Conditions
- This is a uniformed classification, uniform standards are found in the Uniform Handbook for State Parks Maintenance employees
- Must be willing to work weekends and holidays as necessary
- Primarily working outdoors and travelling between park units
- Work outdoors in various types of weather; work in unpleasant conditions (e.g., bad weather, around sewage)
- Prolonged standing, bending, and sitting
- Lift and carry items weighing up to 40 pounds
- Frequent walking on uneven surfaces
