Job description

Work Status: Contingent Upon Contract Award

This is a rare opportunity to help shape the communications and information technology backbone supporting one of the Air Force’s most significant modernization efforts. We are seeking a highly experienced Communications Lead to support the bed-down mission by guiding secure communications, network integration, and classified information system efforts across the Program Integration Office, HQ AFGSC, host wing, and Department of Defense stakeholders. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional who brings deep expertise in classified systems, cyber security, network architecture, and compliance, and who can translate technical complexity into mission-ready solutions. If you are driven by secure operations, high-stakes coordination, and meaningful defense support, this position offers the chance to make a direct and lasting impact.

Position Summary

The Communications Lead will support PIO, HQ AFGSC, and DoD bed-down efforts related to communications, information technology, and supporting infrastructure for the mission. This role participates in the design and execution of network and IT bed-down activities, provides analysis and reporting on status, risks, and recommended solutions, and works closely with communications and IT professionals to ensure compliance, security, effectiveness, and timely execution across the enterprise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in the design, planning, and execution of network and IT bed-down initiatives.
  • Provide analysis and reporting on communications and IT status, risks, issues, and proposed solutions.
  • Work with and provide guidance to host wing, PIO, HQ AFGSC, and DoD communications and IT professionals to ensure bed-down efforts are compliant, effective, timely, and secure.
  • Generate reports and technical documentation as requested to support recommendations and leadership decision-making.
  • Develop and implement System Security Plans, including support for security upgrades and emerging higher-level security requirements.
  • Manage and maintain classified information systems in accordance with applicable regulations and mission requirements.
  • Respond to and help resolve classified information systems security incidents.
  • Support secure transfer of data across classified networks operating at different levels of classification, including control and recording of incoming and outgoing digital media.
  • Conduct self-assessments using the Management Internal Control Toolset.
  • Develop, review, and improve information assurance and cyber security documentation.
  • Manage databases, including environments involving Access, SQL, and Oracle.
  • Administer and manage all aspects of Microsoft SharePoint operations relevant to the mission.
  • Develop standardized procedures for account establishment, system maintenance, and system recovery.
  • Design, install, and maintain advanced router and firewall configurations used to isolate network traffic and preserve network security.
  • Apply knowledge of DoD and Air Force technology regulations, services, and instructions to ensure communications and computer services comply with applicable guidance.
  • Develop network standard operating procedures and support audits, threat and vulnerability assessments, and use of security-related software tools to manage and control classified information systems.
  • Support management and maintenance of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) infrastructure and chat applications.
  • Assist with network segmentation, information protection domains, and network management tools in support of secure mission operations.
  • Provide expertise in secure network environments involving Multi-Level Secure (MLS) and Special Access Program (SAP) systems.
  • Support or advise on integration efforts involving nuclear command, control, and communications systems when required.
