Description : Join Our Team as a Teacher Aide at Community Progress Council, Inc!

Are you passionate about working with children, Early Childhood Education and eager to kick-start your teaching career? Do you desire to work with a great team of diverse individuals dedicated to mission-focused, value-based work that directly impacts the community in which you live? Community Progress Council, Inc (CPC) is excited to announce openings for Teacher Aides who will benefit from our paid Teacher Training program and earn a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential. This full-time, year-round, benefit-eligible position offers 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, providing hands-on classroom experience and enrollment in the 2025-26 training cohort with paid time to complete all necessary CDA-related coursework.

Requirements :

Key Responsibilities :

  • Commit to the vision and mission of The Office of Head Start and CPC.
  • Follow all agency and program policies and procedures as stated in the Employee Handbook and Teacher Handbook.
  • Actively participate in daily classroom routines and activities.
  • Monitor and actively supervise children during classroom activities and transitions.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and positive classroom environment.
  • Assist in daily health observations and report any signs of abuse or neglect.
  • Guide children in following classroom rules using Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports (PBIS).
  • Continuously expand your knowledge of child development and behavior management.
  • Use a positive, friendly and respectful tone when interacting with children, families and CPC team members.
  • Follow all health and safety protocols to maintain a healthy environment.
  • Key Competencies :

  • Relationships : Ability to build rapport and relate well with others.
  • Inclusion : Work effectively with diverse backgrounds and perspectives.

  • Qualifications :

  • High School diploma / GED required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Successful completion of all required background checks, physical, and TB test.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions in English. Bilingual Spanish, Haitian-Creole, or Arabic is highly desired.
  • Proficiency in basic math and the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.
  • Physical Requirements :

  • Regularly required to use hands, reach with arms, and communicate effectively.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
  • Occasionally required to sit and climb.
  • Must be able to lift / move up to 10 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
