Job descriptionPerforms first line troubleshooting, train coordination, preventive and corrective maintenance on vehicles and wayside equipment, including but not limited to propulsion, traction motors, brakes, air compressors, couplers, doors, HVAC, auxiliary power, and all other related electromechanical components and maintenance duties under the direction of the supervisor or the Lead Technician. Makes recommendations for hardware and procedural changes that become evident during performance of maintenance, inspection or troubleshooting Interprets maintenance manuals, blueprints, schematics and drawings Performs tests and prepares reports as required Operates revenue service vehicles and support vehicles to include configuring trains and ensures that trains entering revenue service are fully serviceable Handles emergencies and failures in accordance with established procedures through immediate response and quick action Adheres to all company policies, procedures and safety rules Works variable hours and shifts Participates in regular training to maintain the required level of knowledge to effectively maintain, repair, and troubleshoot the system. Trains subordinate personnel as required Conduct inspections and audits, as directed, to insure compliance of sub-contractors Complete logs, reports, administrative functions as necessary Coordinate activities with team members Perform receiving inspections as directed Performs other related duties as required Must be able to pass Federal Background Check to obtain & maintain SIDA Badge required by the Airport Must have a valid driver's license Must be able to work various shifts (24hr Work Environment) High School diploma or GED equivalent, Type II or Universal HVAC Certification preferred. Must obtain brazing certification within 6 months of hire if HVAC certified. Specialized technical training is a plus in any of the following categories : electrical, mechanical or electronics from a recognized institution. Two -Four years experience in maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of mechanical electrical or electronic systems plus proven familiarity in any one of the above trades is preferred. Must obtain and maintain certifications in compliance with all state and federal regulations applicable to this position. This job description is an overview of the main responsibilities.
