RTI International is seeking PART-TIME DATA COLLECTORS on the state-sponsored research study called the Michigan PFAS Exposure and Health Study (MiPEHS). This important health study seeks to understand the impact of the Michigan resident’s exposure to per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) on their physical health.

PART TIME DATA COLLECTORS will be responsible for traveling to selected locations to recruit study participants, making in-person contact with selected respondents to discuss the study, answer questions, & obtain participation. They will be tasked with accurately completing all project documents including electronic survey instruments (provided tablet) and all reporting forms. The PT Field Interviewer will Collect confidential information and administer standardized questionnaires to local individuals, while also managing administrative duties (including participating in conference calls, completing online trainings, & transmitting data as scheduled). This role is expected to maintain a professional, cooperative relationship with your data collection supervisor and other project staff. *Other duties/responsibilities as assigned

RTI International Data Collector Requirements:
- Must have High School Diploma or GED
- Must be at least 21 years old at time of employment
- Experience conducting field surveys/customer service experience A PLUS!
- Must be able to Communicate effectively in English (reading, writing, speaking, & listening)
- Must be available for entire training & data collection period (March 2025 through June 2025)
- Must be able to successfully complete in-person training in Grand Rapids, MI (from 3/26-3/27, 2025)
- Must have a valid driver's license & reliable personal automobile available for business use
- Access to password protected Wi-Fi connection for data transmission/administrative responsibilities
- Ability to keep project & interviewee’s personal information confidential
- Comfortable using RTI issued tablet, laptop & other associated equipment/applications
- Comfortable working in unfamiliar areas
- Demonstrated ability to engage diverse populations with empathy and cultural sensitivity
- Ability to work an average of 5 days (20 hrs.) per week (primarily evenings & weekends w/ field trips expected to be at least 4 hrs. long)
THIS STUDY: In Michigan, the Belmont/Rockford area and the City of Parchment/Cooper Township area had drinking water samples with elevated PFAS levels when testing in 2018. Since this initial testing, the study has conducted a health survey, anthropometric measures (i.e. blood pressure, weight, and height), and blood samples from eligible sample members to better understand the impact of PFAS exposure on health.
In 2023, this study conducted in-person household outreach to enroll participants.
