Entry-level jobs as Insurance Claims Handlers are available among many different insurance companies. This is the most common position for people entering the insurance world. Most companies require applicants to have completed secondary education and possess a bachelor's or associate's degree in Business Administration, Economics, Mathematics, or Statistics. 

There are several paths to becoming an Insurance Claims Handler. Many Claims Handlers start their careers as customer service representatives or claims processors. Some insurance companies offer programs to develop employees into Claims Handlers.  

The insurance industry offers many opportunities for career growth. Claims Handlers who demonstrate strong customer service, analytical, and decision-making skills may be promoted to managerial positions. Some Claims Handlers may become independent Insurance Adjusters or move into other areas of the insurance industry, such as sales, underwriting, or risk management.

Most Claims Handlers work full time during regular business hours. Some positions may require overtime hours. Claims Handlers typically work in office settings, but some travel may be required to visit policyholders or claimants.
