Environmental Engineers use their skills and knowledge to study, analyze, and understand how human activity affects the natural environment, always aiming to reduce said impact. Environmental Engineers draw knowledge from several areas of science, including biology, chemistry, and geology, to help them understand the natural world around them and how to preserve it better.

Environmental Engineers are often employed as counselors or advisors by construction companies or government agencies focused on preserving and maintaining the natural environment.

Environmental Engineers often work with a team of other professionals, including Civil Engineers, Technicians, and Mechanics, to achieve a common goal. They need to communicate and work together as a team to fulfill all their project’s deliverables. Environmental Engineers also need to read, understand, and write technical reports and other documents.

Environmental Engineers need to Identify issues and resolve problems promptly using critical thinking and good judgment. Especially on ecological issues, the stakes can be very high, such as flooding or drought. Environmental Engineers need to anticipate problems to prevent losses and alleviate environmental damage. They also need to be precise and accurate in their calculations and analyses.
