If you are a construction materials or construction enthusiast with outstanding communication abilities, you have the opportunity to support our ongoing efforts to educate our customers about our products.

The Technical Writer will create, write, and revise technical documents such as project profiles, articles, white papers, manuals, and reports for The QUIKRETE Companies brands including Quikrete, Rinker Materials, Best Block, Pavestone, Custom Building Products, and others.

Supervisory Responsibilities :

None, this is an individual contributor role.

Duties / Responsibilities :

Writes and edits project profiles, sales flyers, white papers, and other materials to demonstrate the success achieved using our products.

Technical documents including reference manuals and product manuals.

  • Takes sometimes complex information and refines it to make it easily understandable
  • Writes and edits procedural documentation such as user guides and manuals.
  • Determines the form of publication that will best serve the project requirements.
  • Meets with marketing directors, technical experts, engineers, web developers, social media managers and others to learn about specific products or processes.
  • Research products to fully understand use, benefits, and advantages.
  • Assesses the audience needs for whom the technical and procedural documentation is intended; adjusts tone and technical terms used to meet those needs and to ensure understanding.
  • Plans writing processes and sets timelines and deadlines.
  • Works with graphic designers to create diagrams, charts, and other visual aids to assist readers in understanding a product or process.
  • Gathers feedback from constituents to improve technical documents.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills / Abilities :

  • Experience in industries such as construction, construction sales, construction manufacturing, architecture, construction equipment or infrastructure.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent writing and grammatical skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to present complex data in clear, concise manner.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and to work independently.
  • Ability to edit and proofread work of colleagues.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related software.

Education and Experience :

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, or related field required.
  • Three years of related experience required.

Physical Requirements :

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
