Job description

Position Opening : Construction Administrator

PlanNorth’s Construction Administrator will report directly to the Managing Principal, and will conduct weekly site visits at all PlanNorth projects. The ability to follow strict jobsite protocols and procedures is critical to the success of this position. The most successful applicant will be an energetic, detail-oriented individual with the ability to learn / implement new technologies easily.

There are many candidates who will be qualified for this role with respect to professional credentials, “on paper”. Credentials and Qualifications :

  • Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Construction Science, Architecture or Land Development
  • 5-7 years experience in Construction Industry, preferably with years spent in the field on jobsites of varying degrees of complexity
  • Advanced level skills in Construction Industry technologies such as software related to estimating, project management, communication and methodologies
  • Abilities and Contributions critical to this role include :

  • Professionalism and ease in communication with Architects, Contractors, Owners and Local Authorities
  • Ability to understand and implement efficient meeting participation with industry professionals / owners, incorporating and working through regular challenges throughout the duration of a project
  • Dedication to professional growth / education, including continuing education and relevant certifications such as project management, code understanding / authority, and other industry specific areas of specialty. Applicants with trade certifications will be encouraged to continue advancement within their specific trade alongside this position.
  • Display of professional judgement in all matters, with the ability to diplomatically bring critical issues to the table for group discussion
  • This position must be able to implement software in support of Construction Administration. The regular use of various software such as Bluebeam, Procore, Fieldwire, Basecamp and Microsoft Office suite will be required. Proficiency in a Revit / BIM Viewer will be required.
  • Must be able to drive to project sites within a 60-mile radius of Brenham with personal vehicle, lift packages and items up to 30lbs, read various types of tape measures / scales, and provide personal cell phone for ordinary work-related communication
  • Typical Job Duties :

    Participate as a Construction Administration team member, working under the supervision of a Licensed Architect or Client Manager, to complete the following tasks :

  • Provide meeting support to Principal Architect / Client Managers
  • Scheduling and tracking of projects in construction phase
  • Assist with paperwork and submittal items for local jurisdictions, contractors and engineers
  • Archive documents at project milestones
  • Process Requests for Information (RFIs) from general contractors, and maintain logs for each project
  • Process Material Submittals & Shop Drawings and maintain logs for each project
  • Visit construction sites on a regular basis for the purpose of observation, documenting progress via “Fieldwire” reports via tablet
  • Review & Edit project manual / specifications for each project (word document files) as requested
  • Prepare Architectural Supplemental Instructions (ASI) for minor changes in work
  • Generate project completion list or Punch List at the end of construction
  • Review and log General Contractor Close-out documents for each project
  • Use Basecamp (online project management software) to log and communicate with construction team members during construction
  • Maintain Construction Administration Action Log to track tasks and action needed from Architectural / Engineering Team
  • Maintain response times in keeping with specifications for construction-related matters
  • Communicate using proper spelling and grammar with the project team
  • Overall compensation and benefits will be based on the experience of the applicant and are negotiable.
