About the Job:
A Graduate Admissions Counselor is the first stop in the educational journey of students coming to George Fox! In our vibrant, Christian, academic community our strong sense of mission and purpose creates an opportunity for a creative, courageous, and strategic go-getter to thrive and make a significant impact on the lives of students who want to accomplish their life-long dreams. They will journey with prospective students through the discernment and application process for George Fox graduate and adult degree programs and share their expertise of academic programs to guide students from inquiry to enrollment.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Embracing the opportunity to represent the University in a positive and professional manner as the first point of engagement for prospective students. (20%)
- Building relationships with prospective students to understand their nuanced educational journey while encouraging them to consider George Fox. (20%)
- Gaining expert knowledge about academic programs in order to best counsel students in their education decision process. (20%)
- Helping prospective students understand the requirements to apply for a program of study. (20%)
- Planning and coordinating prospective and admitted student-centered events such as information sessions, campus tours, and interview days. (20%)
- Communicating effectively and courteously with others, including employees, students, and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect and customer service.
- By actions, words, and lifestyle, be a Christian role model to students, whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role.
- Demonstrating awareness, respect, and appreciation for diversity of culture, background, race, sex, political views, expressions of faith, etc. and works well with a variety of people.

A day in the life of this position:
As a Graduate Admissions Counselor, you'll have the incredible opportunity to be a master strategist and play a vital role in shaping the future of George Fox University! You'll get to develop, implement, and analyze recruitment plans to attract the best-fit students and showcase the unique strengths and values of our programs to potential students. You'll collaborate with the wider Admissions team, faculty, staff, and alumni to maximize your impact and leave a lasting impression on prospective students. You'll have the chance to create engaging correspondence, informative presentations, and host interactive information meetings and interview events that will allow students to gain valuable insights. You'll be responsible for implementing follow-up strategies that will ensure prospective students are kept informed and engaged throughout the admissions process!
We're looking for candidates who have:
- A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- Experience fostering equity and inclusion for a diverse population of students and employees.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Experience building rapport with internal and external constituents.
- A passion for learning and an eagerness to grow and develop.
- Skills utilizing Google and Microsoft Suite of products.
- The ability to be a self-starter and a resourceful problem-solver.
- Effective organizational skills and dependability.
- A personal commitment to Jesus Christ and express their Christian testimony in a church. In addition, employees agree to live in agreement with the Community Lifestyle Statement and affirm the theological commitments expressed in the Statement of Faith.
