SUMMARY : This isresponsible administrative work involving support of outreach libraryoperations of the mobile branch library. Major job functions include drivingcounty bookmobile pop-up library to various events throughout Douglas County,schedule and maintain calendar of outreach events, as well as perform all basiccirculation functions. The incumbent in this position may be assigned specificresponsibilities for circulation, computers or children's programming. Work is performed under general supervisionand the employee works with independence to initiate and carry out projects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Duties include butare not limited to :
- Providingservice to the general public and library staff by explaining library policies,procedures, and services; assisting patrons in locating items; orienting newusers to library
- Providingdirections and training for new library assistants and / or other library staff
- Coordinating all outreach eventsand providing services to the community via library bookmobile
- May superviseand schedule daily operations of front desk by ensuring appropriate staffcoverage to greet and assist the public
- May plan andconduct children's programming for the library such as story hour, readingclubs and special events
- May serve asliaison between school system and library
- May evaluateand select books and resources for purchase
- Maytroubleshoot computers and peripherals; may train staff in new libraryautomation changes or system updates
- Receiving,opening, checking, and processing new acquisitions for delivery to libraries
- Serving ascustomer service resource for patrons and staff on questions, issues andproblems relating to library policy, procedure, and services
- Generatingvarious statistical reports from Unicorn software system and submits tolibrarian for planning and reporting purposes
- Performingduties associated with the maintenance, evaluation and management of materials
- Interactingwith vendors and suppliers regarding books, supplies and other materials,returning defective books to vendors
- Workingcirculation desk, shelving books and providing reference assistance in absenceof Reference Associate
- Allresponsibilities may not be performed by all incumbents
