This role focuses on health and welfare financial work for healthcare-related organizations within Lockton’s Healthcare Practice, spanning the Dunning, Founders, and Midwest Series. The initial focus is hospitals and health systems with additional segments including specialty practices, integrated delivery systems, and third-party healthcare solution providers.
Responsibilities
- Financial analysis for healthcare industry employer group health plans including ongoing claim reporting, rate setting, contribution development and plan design modeling.
- Leverage existing models to illustrate client health plan financial patterns and outcomes; contribute to custom reports and analysis for healthcare industry clients as needed.
- Evaluate benefits utilization and claims data to assist clients in developing cost management and health risk management strategies.
- Proactively review multiple data sources for ongoing benchmarking and storytelling.
- Prepare spreadsheets, graphs, charts, diagrams, and other illustrative tools for presentations and reports.
- Support development of health plan reserve estimates for self-funded clients.
- Participate in client meetings as needed, delivering financial information and results.
- Assist service teams with development and evaluation of carrier RFPs for all coverage lines, including modeling of network changes and payment alternatives.
- Provide financial modeling and support for prospects.
- Assist in creation of consistent financial deliverables across Series, supporting Lockton brand consistency and enabling strong vendor partnerships in the healthcare space.
- Perform special projects as necessary.
- Keep informed of insurance industry developments and products available in the marketplace.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required (major in Finance, Statistics, Math, or related field preferred).4+ years of group health benefits experience at a brokerage / consulting firm or insurance carrier with focus on underwriting / financial analysis.Some familiarity with features of healthcare system health plans, including domestic tiering, claims repricing, custom networks, and direct contracting beneficial.Actuarial accreditations welcome; exam support available for candidates interested in pursuing credentials.Ability to compile, analyze, present, and interpret financial and statistical information to facilitate decision making.Knowledge of all aspects of the healthcare marketplace including plan design, pricing, reserving, benchmarking, and financial management / analysis.Organizational and time management skills to prioritize workloads to meet deadlines; ability to work independently under supervision or guidance of others.Results-oriented with ability to adapt to changing priorities.Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills; ability to interact with clients and colleagues at all levels.Excellent quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel; experience with financial modeling, statistical analysis, and spreadsheet calculations.Ability to travel as needed.Compensation And Benefits
