As a Business Analyst within our Commercial Insurance Small and Lower Middle Market (SLM) domain, you will have the opportunity to work with business leadership in both Actuarial and Portfolio Management, helping to designing and document effective rating solutions that can be applied by the Pricing Implementation team. Your collaboration with IT development and testing counterparts will be key to ensuring that our applications and infrastructure are perfectly aligned with our operational goals and upgrades. Reporting directly to the Pricing Team product owner, you’ll be part of a highly functioning team focused on delivering a high-quality pricing release. In this role, you will :
- Lead the elicitation and documentation of business requirements with Actuarial and Portfolio Management leadership, developing detailed user stories for prioritized projects supporting filed and approved pricing levers and nuanced rating adjustments
- Collaborate with the Pricing Implementation team to refine user stories, ensuring a clear understanding of business objectives, details and outcomes by the development and QA teams
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with cross-functional teams, including Underwriting, Operations, Technology, Marketing, Regulatory and Compliance and other key business functions
- Identify and help architect business capabilities across People, Process, Partners, and Technology, leveraging Agile principles to enhance organizational effectiveness
- Support the Product Owners within an Agile framework, managing Epics, Features, and User Stories that translate business requirements into actionable IT deliverables and that are aligned to business outcomes
- Build strong relationships with senior business, IT, and operations leadership to collaboratively drive execution of the pricing implementation strategy
- Guide IT analysts and business subject matter experts on project initiatives, providing oversight to ensure alignment with business objectives
- Comprehensive understanding of business operations, strategies, processes, data analysis, capabilities, enabling technologies, and governance structures
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a business analysis or similar role for a P&C Insurance company with rating / pricing experience preferred and Business Owner Policies (BOP) & Umbrella line of business knowledge a plus
- Proficiency in identifying structural issues within the multi-policy ecosystem, understanding functional interdependencies, and resolving cross-silo redundancies to enhance efficiency
- Ability to apply architectural methods, principles, and tools effectively to business challenges, promoting Agile delivery and continuous improvement
- Experience visualizing and constructing high-level models and diagrams to support analysis and strategic planning for business architecture evolution
- Extensive experience in planning and implementing business or IT initiatives, with a preference for a blend of both
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with a talent for creating visual representations of complex ideas for stakeholders
- Proven ability to act as a liaison between business units and IT, effectively communicating requirements, data constraints, business rules, processes, and responsibilities
- Demonstrated experience influencing stakeholders at all organizational levels and fostering consensus-driven solutions
