Job Summary
SpecialtyCare is seeking a Medical Records Coordinator to join our Legal department at our corporate office in Brentwood, TN. This person will be responsible for responding to subpoenas requesting medical records and related information. This position will require training onsite but has the potential for a hybrid schedule once training is completed!
- Respond to subpoenas for 3rd party medical and billing records timely and accurately.
- Review medical records subject to each request for completeness and accuracy.
- Work with other departments and colleagues on medical record requests that involve providing more information than medical record.
- Work with outside legal counsel on subpoenas that are overly broad or that request depositions
- Prepare cover letters and speaks with law firms regarding requested items as well as work with internal departments as needed.
- Track payment of fees for medical records and bills law firms for requested documents.
- Complete light administrative duties, such as scanning, copying, check requests, and distribution of legal department mail.

Education:
·Associate’s degree (AS/AA) or equivalent from a two-year college or university; or
·Paralegal certificate from an accredited institution.
Experience:
·One (1) to three (3) years of related experience.
·Equivalent combination of education and experience, acceptable.
Knowledge and Skills:
·Ability to read, analyze, and interpret legal subpoena request
·Ability to write transmittal letters, read and understand fairly complex documents, strong telephone conversation skills.
·Strong attention to detail and communication skills, ability to work efficiently to meet short deadlines
·Self-starter and strong organizational skills
·Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
·Familiarity with medical records and electronic medical record and billing systems is a plus.
