Regional Director Of Clinical Informatics

The Regional Director of Clinical Informatics is a registered nurse whose responsibilities include collaboration in multidisciplinary project plans, consultation and support of system-wide initiatives with focus on division strategic goals and related projects. This role collaborates with leadership for selection, planning, development, and implementation of EPIC applications; clinical technologies; informatics healthcare programs; and other products and services that address the support clinical practice workflows processes that address the clinical needs of our patients, family and communities. This role is responsible for oversight of strategic planning, organizing, delegating and coordinating of the testing, training, implementation and operational readiness support of clinical information systems. This position requires extensive academic preparation and professional experience plus this individual must possess leadership, clinical and advanced EPIC expertise. The individual utilizes this expertise to support and promote the delivery of safe, highly reliable, quality, age appropriate and culturally aware patient care leveraging the EPIC application and other clinical technologies. In collaboration with clinical leaders; this role is responsible for the design, development and implementation of the clinical informatics plan. Provides leadership and change management methodologies to advance the clinical team utilization of informatics. Oversees end user optimization and efficiency, embeds evidence based, and analytics model to ensure patient outcomes and improve clinical performance. Works with members of the information technology departments, providers, super-users, clinical departments and other WHS personnel to accomplish strategic goals.
Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions :
- Leads and develops programs and has responsibilities to manage regional team members. Works in conjunction with the operational, clinical and information technology leadership team to coordinate all aspects of clinical informatics.
- Analyze clinical workflows and promote process changes to support the proficient use of the system.
- Collaborate with system leaders in the development of project-specific work plans, testing plans, go-live plans, task sequencing, and lead clinical informatics team to complete tasks with prioritized time management and preformed accurately and concurrently.
- Facilitates the development of computerized documentation tools.
- Serves as a resource for clinical leadership and staff.
- Multidisciplinary collaboration of planning phases of new systems and future growth.
- Leads team with appropriate change management methodology through implementation including testing, training and ensuring quality assurance of operating systems and / or software upgrades.
- Analyzes and evaluates present or proposed clinical workflows, procedures or issues / challenges to define data processing needs and work flow.
- Provides leadership to regional team members to support multi-user operating systems and software tools, including end user testing, training, and implementation support of these systems.
- Collaborates with system leaders to identify, monitor and resolve outstanding system / application problems and issues with clinical applications in a timely manner.
- Monitors and facilitates purposeful clinical rounding of the informatics team with complete cycle issue resolution.
- Provide optimization oversight and team support for clinical workflow integration.
- Escalates problems to the proper person / groups in a timely manner.
- Assess situations and provides a professional and timely status updates.
- In collaboration with Organizational Learning, Clinical Specialist, and specialty educators conducts and / or coordinates and / or monitors training with end users for operational compliance.
- Has ownership of the development and delivery of at the elbow support / education / training programs that help the end-users maximize the use of the features and functions of the applications.
- Leadership oversight for cyberstar program (superuser program)
- Collaborates with operational owners / system leaders to ensure specialty, clinical and business focused support during all phases of implementations, upgrades and optimization process.
- Documents projects, collaborates with educators to write, edit and / or reviews user instructions.
- Reviews / Creates training documentation that is user friendly, detailed and precise.
- Serves as a professional role model within the clinical settings.
- Leads, manages and provides analytic analysis, project management and support activities for clinical informatics to support operational business needs of the organization.
- Responsible for assigning tasks and providing direction, support, and expertise to the clinical informatics specialist in the department.
- Develops and administers procedures and guidelines for research and analysis to forecast health care costs, medical management, and health economics.
- Responsible for developing and managing the organizations capabilities in information systems and tools that are applied to medical / clinical information.
- Manages and coordinates analytical support for medical clinical quality management initiatives, including profiling, health economics, and business analytics / performance metrics.
- Collaborates with the Information Systems and System Operational leaders to prioritize medical management needs through optimization work groups.
- Actively develops policies and procedures to support use of informatics in the practice setting. Actively supports IT policies, procedures and initiatives.
- Attends regular departmental and Town Hall meetings, and promote / exemplify excellent customer service as aligned with WellStars Credo.
- Exhibit tact, professionalism, good personal grooming and create a favorable impression to the public and all health system staff through professional dress and good customer service skills.
- Participates on committees and attends meetings as needed. Complete assigned projects.
- Participates in special projects as required.
- Enhance professional growth and development through education programs, workshops or other educational opportunities that may be presented.
- Keep abreast of emerging technology, opportunity for interoperability and best practice models in clinical informatics.

- Complies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.
Required Minimum Education : Bachelors in Nursing is required. Masters in Healthcare Informatics or Nursing is required.
Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s) : All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated. RN - Reg Nurse (Single State)
Additional License(s) and Certification(s) : Informatics certification, EPIC Content Builder or Clinical Informaticist is preferred.
Required Minimum Experience : Minimum 10 years in technology and / or healthcare related industry is required. Minimum 5 years in clinical practice setting and / or information technology related activities is preferred. Minimum 3 years leadership or management experience is required. Experience to include a combination of clinical practice, EPIC EHR inpatient documentation applications, information technology implementations and leading a project team is required.
Required Minimum Skills : Demonstrates ability to lead a team of professionals. Creation and expansion of healthcare integrated project design and development or similar hands-on expertise. Demonstrates excellent written, oral communications skills with leadership abilities related to change management methodologies. Has excellent analytical and research skills. Demonstrates a strong detail orientation and time management skills are required. Knowledge of clinical practice settings and clinical workflow in a variety of clinical settings such as inpatient, hospital outpatient departments, health parks, and physician practice setting are necessary.
