POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the General Manager, the Operations Manager is responsible for day-to-day site operations, including supervising the warehousing, receiving, and shipping of product in a manner consistent with company service and cost objectives. Responsibilities include planning inbound and outbound volume, customer communication activities, space utilization & management, and equipment management. People management responsibilities encompass hiring, training, labor management planning, performance appraisals, and problem resolution.
As part of the DSV team, associates are expected to meet company objectives in performance, safety, and quality, and to comply with all corporate and site-specific policies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensures the development of systems and procedures for managing operations, equipment, and products safely and profitably in accordance with company policies.
- Manages operations to meet prescribed productivity and service goals, complying with client SLAs.
- Drives continuous improvement efforts and suggests more efficient operations and cost-saving measures.
- Meets all client-specified KPIs and complies with quality system requirements.
- Applies sound communication and motivational techniques to supervise fairly and equitably.
- Collaborates with Human Resources on hiring, training, development programs, and performance evaluation.
- Delivers results by leveraging the skills of the right people at the right time.
- Keeps senior management and client representatives informed on critical operational issues.
- Plans daily work schedules based on work orders, arrival notices, and customer instructions.
- Reorganizes warehouse space to meet current volume demands and staffing needs.
- Provides effective training to team members and ensures adherence to SOPs.
- Monitors trainee performance and cultural fit with DSV values.
- Maintains high motivation among team members to deliver top customer satisfaction.
- Provides ongoing growth and development opportunities for staff.
- Supports adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Conducts routine staff meetings to review daily / weekly activities.
Management Information Systems
Ensures all team members are properly trained on required information systems, including WMS, to meet company and client objectives.Ensures necessary computer hardware and software are purchased in accordance with Corporate IT policies.Stays knowledgeable about changes in hardware and software technology.Develops proficiency in client systems.Customer Management
Maintains high-level customer service standards for all functions.Ensures client accounts receive required operational and administrative support.Maintains appropriate contact with all functions and responds to requests.Attends or leads meetings with key customers to discuss any issues.Coordinates management of supplier / customer visits to the site.Promotes a positive relationship with clients through excellent service.Budgeting / Financials
Supports the development of an annual operating budget.Develops and manages cost controls to meet service levels and operational performance goals.Assists in ensuring budgeting and pricing activities comply with contract guidelines.Equipment & Facilities
Manages programs to maintain company standards of sanitation, maintenance, security, housekeeping, safety, and equipment including MHE.Ensures team members are properly trained on any MHE.Keeps informed of relevant new technology and makes recommendations.Safety
Achieves safety goals by establishing a proactive culture within operations.Audits warehouse for compliance with safety, security, and quality principles.Ensures adherence to all statutory health and safety requirements.Other Duties
Works overtime as dictated by business needs.Performs other duties as assigned.Supervisory Responsibilities
Manages warehouse operations supervisors and support staff.Education & Experience
High school diploma or GED required.Bachelor's degree preferred.Minimum 7 years' experience in logistics / distribution or a related environment.Minimum 5 years' experience in a supervisory role.Must be able to work in unregulated temperatures within the warehouse.Computer Skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).Proficient with applicable WMS systems.Language Skills
English (reading, writing, verbal).Proficiency in business communication at all levels.Other Skills

Compensation
The pay for this role ranges from $100,000 to $120,000 salary.
