Sr. Network Engineer - NYC, New York - Hybrid (Locals to NY, NJ)

Position : W2 Onsite / Hybrid : Hybrid (2 or 3 Days in office) - Locals only Need candidates who can work on our W2 Job Description : Job purpose We are a mid-size financial services firm undergoing a significant technology modernization initiative, moving from legacy on-premises infrastructure to cloud infrastructure leveraging AWS and Azure. We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Network Engineer with leadership capabilities to join our team. This role combines deep technical expertise with hands-on management of a small networking team. Duties and responsibilities Assist the VP of Networking in to ensure optimal performance and security on our network infrastructure Lead the design, configuration, support, and maintenance of the enterprise network, including Cisco switches, routers, and firewalls. Architect and support AWS VPC networking, hybrid connectivity (Direct Connect, VPN), and Azure integrations. Develop and enforce network security policies, ensuring compliance with financial services regulations. Drive automation and standardization by developing and maintaining Terraform-based IaC for network provisioning and management. Collaborate with cloud, infrastructure, and application teams to ensure seamless migration and integration of services. Monitor and optimize network performance, troubleshoot complex issues, and implement solutions proactively. Manage, mentor, and oversee a small networking team, fostering a culture of accountability and growth. Evaluate new technologies, tools, and best practices to enhance network resiliency, automation, and security. Provide escalation support for critical network issues and ensure 24 / 7 operational readiness. Qualifications Minimum of 10 years of relevant or equivalent experience with evidence of increasing responsibility 10+ years of hands-on experience in enterprise networking. Deep expertise with Cisco networking technologies : switches, routers, and firewalls. Strong understanding of AWS networking (VPC, Transit Gateway, Security Groups, NACLs, etc.); Azure networking experience is a plus. Proven experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code best practices (modular design, version control, automation pipelines). Familiarity with network security frameworks and compliance standards (e.g., PCI DSS, SOX, NYDFS Cybersecurity). Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and performance optimization skills. Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and present to leadership. Demonstrated leadership or managerial experience, including mentoring team members and overseeing project delivery. Experience with hybrid cloud connectivity (AWS Direct Connect, Azure ExpressRoute, SD-WAN). Familiarity with container networking (Kubernetes, EKS / AKS). Experience with automation frameworks (Ansible, GitOps, CI / CD for IaC).
