Pharmacy Tech

The Pharmacy Technician (Non-Certified) provides pharmaceutical services to the patient under the supervision of a Certified Pharmacy Technician and Pharmacist to the extent dictated by state and federal laws.

Duties / Responsibilities :

• Exhibits knowledge of drug nomenclature, dosage forms, storage requirements, pharmaceutical calculations, and pharmacy law as it pertains to the role and function of a non-certified pharmacy technician.
• Assists the pharmacist in drug procurement, preparation and distribution, billing functions, and other assorted tasks that contribute to the overall function of the Pharmacy Department.
• Exhibits skilled aseptic technique in handling sterile products.
• Performs pharmacy billing functions.
• Reviews and removes outdating drug products from the inventory during monthly inspections of assigned area in the pharmacy.
• Assists the pharmacist in monthly inspections of patient care areas.
• Restocks patient care areas with designated drug products as outlined in departmental procedures.
• Participates in the quality control functions of the department as provided in departmental policy.
• Documents workload activities as requested to support department managerial functions.

Education :

High school graduate or equivalent, or currently enrolled in high school working towards completion within 12 months of employment required.

Experience : None

Licensure / Certification :

Registration with the Kentucky Board of Pharmacy prior to hire date required.
