This is entry level seasonal public contact work responsible for ensuring the safety of facility patrons by preventing and responding to emergencies at City swimming pools.

Examples of Work Performed
- Assist guests with checking in and purchasing daily pool passes.
- Recognize and respond effectively in emergencies
- Enforce all City of Wichita Parks pools policies and procedures
- Participate in regular in-service training
- Assist in cleaning the facility and related areas and maintenance and operation of pool equipment
- These examples are not intended to be all-inclusive. Other job-related duties may be assigned as needed.
- At no time should any other job duties interfere with the primary responsibilities of a lifeguard : The safety of the patrons
Requirements of Work
- Ability to listen to, read, interpret, and apply instructions received
- Ability to climb steps or ladders
- Ability to move about quickly and stand, walk, reach, bend, stoop or squat, as needed to perform assigned tasks
- Ability to work outdoors in unpleasant weather conditions
- Ability to tolerate airborne nuisances associated with open grounds and windy conditions
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the public
Required Experience and Training
- Must be at least 16 years old
- Have a current American Red Cross CPR-PR and First Aid or equivalent certifications; Applicants without the required certifications must be certified no later than 06 / 03 / 2024
- Applicants must satisfactorily demonstrate required skills including CPR-PR and first aid.
- Previous cash handling experience is preferred.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need of a sponsorship.
Offers of employment are contingent upon passing a pre-employment physical, which includes drug screening, and upon satisfactory evaluation of a criminal record check.
