Job Title : Material Handler Supervisor, First Shift

Summary : This position is responsible for supervising workers engaged in the first shift operation for the Shipping / Receiving and Material Handling operations. In addition, this position is responsible for storing and maintaining products, supplying the Production with Material, by directing the efforts of his / her team and creating and executing work instructions in the distribution process.

Essential Functions of the Job : The essential functions of this job require the person, with or without reasonable accommodations, to perform the following :

• Direct and control all warehouse and material handling activities.
• Manage, lead, motivate and train personnel in the Material Handler area in accordance with organizational polices and applicable laws. Exhibit confidence in self and staff.
• Resolve interdepartmental issues, accept feedback, and give recognition.
• Manage Timecards and do actions if necessary.
• Recommend or initiate personnel actions, such as promotions, transfers, or disciplinary measures.
• Evaluate employee performance and prepare performance appraisals.
• Interpret company and department policies to workers and ensure personnel to comply.
• Estimate staffing requirements for a given project, based on work orders, job specifications, and experience.
• Participate in the hiring process by reviewing credentials, conducting interviews, or making hiring decisions or recommendations.
• Maintain a safe working environment by monitoring safety procedures and equipment.

Understand, apply and train the principles of LEAN Manufacturing.

Recommended Education and / or Experience

Bachelors Degree in a related field; or minimum five years related experience; or combination of education and related experience.
