Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN with PCU and cardiac monitoring skills for a Med / Tele stepdown position on nights in a Level 2 Trauma acute care setting.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in a Med / Tele / PCU stepdown unit with 32 beds
  • Adult and geriatric patient population including cardiac caths, EP studies, pacers, ETOH, Covid Bipap, medical patients with cardiac issues, general surgery, pneumonia, influenza, and sepsis
  • Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1 : 4-5, occasionally 1 : 5-6 on nights, with PCU overflow at 1 : 3
  • Uses Epic EMR for charting
  • Required to work night shifts, 12 hours in length
  • Every other weekend and holiday required
  • Floating to PCU, Med-Surg, and ER holds / boarding as needed
  • Required to titrate cardiac drips including Amio, Cardizem, Heparin, Nitro, Nipride, Lasix, and low dose Dopamine
  • First to float when needed
  • Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
  • Candidates must not have worked with CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity within the past year as direct employees
  • Scrubs in any color are acceptable
  • Two 12-hour orientation shifts provided at the start of the assignment
  • Team support includes charge RN on both shifts and patient care techs with a goal of 1 : 10 ratio
  • Telemonitoring is supported by both in-room / portable monitors and a monitor tech at the nurse station
  • Reading and interpretation of own telemetry strips are required
  • Maximum of 7 days of requested time off allowed for the contract; additional RTO will not be approved
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply

  • Active ND or compact RN license required at time of consideration
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • Proven PCU experience and ability to read and interpret rhythm strips
  • Experience with cardiac monitoring required
  • Epic EMR experience preferred
