About the Role
The Human Resources Director delivers essential HR support to business units, focusing on performance management, team dynamics, investigations, change management, leadership growth, and disciplinary actions.
This role encompasses various responsibilities, such as overseeing training, employee engagement, talent acquisition, licensing, labor relations, benefits, and wardrobe management.
Responsibilities
- Adept at converting business priorities into HR programs, processes, and initiatives that deliver value and fulfill business requirements.
- Acts as the primary contact for leaders and team members regarding general HR inquiries / issues, offering precise and suitable information or guidance, or escalating when necessary.
- Functions as an internal consultant by evaluating and suggesting solutions to HR issues specific to the designated internal client group.
- Advises department leaders on a wide range of HR matters, including talent planning, career mobility, retention, engagement, work actions, performance management, and other areas aimed at building a high-performance team.
- Identifies and promotes best practices across the property to support continuous improvement.
- Coaches leaders to enhance their effectiveness by applying leadership skills, developing engaging work environments, and implementing proper HR processes.
- Manages the Benefits Program, including the company’s health and welfare plans, specifically medical, dental, life, disability, 401K benefit plans, FSA, and COBRA.
- Drives change management practices to improve organizational effectiveness, incorporating diversity, equity, and inclusion strategies to enhance competitive advantage and workforce skills.
- Collaborates with business leaders to develop strategies that foster employee engagement and commitment.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying current and new legislation, obtaining expert opinions, enforcing adherence, and advising management on necessary actions.
- Responds to non-routine requests for information on policy interpretation.
- Maintains knowledge and understanding of laws and regulations related affirmative action, collective bargaining, unions, labor relations, and human resources.
- Assists with the preparation of plans, policies, documents, and reports, affirmative action plans, organizational charts, labor agreements, and employee handbooks.
- Assists with the preparation of documents and records needed for contract negotiations, meetings, and discussions with employee and labor organizations.
- Responsible for developing processes, budgets, creating SOPs, and providing related training.
- Partners with external / internal legal counsel as needed.
- Understands, applies, and teaches retention concepts to attract, motivate, and retain employees.
Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources
- 3-5 years experience in HR leadership or equivalent work experience.
- Strong understanding of federal and local labor laws.
- Experience and working knowledge of various HR functions i.e. recruiting, employee relations, labor relations, benefits, payroll, HRIS, etc.
