Overview

Microsoft’s Cloud Operations + Innovation (CO+I) organization is the engine that powers our cloud services. Our data center construction team is dedicated to delivering the highest quality data centers for our cloud services.

As we continue to revolutionize the way construction projects are planned, managed, and executed, we are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Construction Quality Manager to join our diverse and inclusive team.

This role will play a crucial part in ensuring the high standard and reliability of our product.

The Construction Quality Manager will be responsible for overseeing quality control processes within our construction organization.

Working collaboratively with our construction team, procurement, and engineering teams, you will ensure that our day-to-day execution adheres to our processes and project parameters and ensure conformance, meeting the highest standards of performance, functionality, and safety.

In your role you will report directly to the Regional Construction Lead and work across all projects in the Region to ensure consistency in the QAQC (Quality Assurance and Quality Control) program and will be matrixed to the construction quality team and work with our center of excellence and central quality organization as well.

This opportunity will also allow you to work directly with our central quality team and collaborate with our center of excellence, accelerating your career growth.

You will have an opportunity to help mature our site quality processes into a comprehensive QAQC program. You will become adept at navigating data and analytics and have exposure to every aspect of capacity delivery, developing a broad knowledge-based on how data centers are built, delivered, and operated.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Construction Project Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related field AND 5+ years related experience

OR equivalent experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in MEP (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing)
  • Proficient with with Microsoft Office products to include; power point, excel, office, visio, PowerBI, project professional, and Teams.
  • Experience in leading vendor teams developing and launching scalable programs leveraging technology, tooling, and business processes.
  • 7+ years in construction project management of Data Centers or Mission Critical Facilities
  • Degrees and / or professional licenses in Construction Management or Electrical / Mechanical Engineering or similar experiences
  • Effective Verbal and Written Communication Skills
  • Construction Health & Safety Knowledge. OSHA 30 or equivalent preferred
  • Experiene working on data center projects.
  • Understanding of datacenter and topologies or equivalent mission critical facility background.
  • Analytical skills with the ability to extract and summarize large, complex data from multiple databases and systems.
  • Team player with ability to influence cross functional team and leadership team in driving process improvement and efficiencies.

Construction Project Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $91,800 - $178,800 per year.

There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $117,900 - $195,000 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Review and approval of General Contractor Project Quality Plans.
  • Oversee, train, and counsel project quality staff to ensure consistency in auditing and execution against Microsoft project quality specifications and standards.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive work environment by collaborating closely with construction, commissioning, procurement, design, and operations stakeholders.
  • Address quality issues and ensure necessary modifications are made to keep to budget, schedule, and scope for improved project delivery
  • Agree to a quality audit plan in accordance with Microsoft specifications.
  • Execute project audits and ensure audit goals are met.
  • Consolidate, analyze, and reports key audit data regularly to ensure compliance and conformance.
  • Identify areas for improvement and use disciplined problem-solving techniques to implement and correct / prevent non-conformance.

Improve process control through improved process capability and error-proofing.

  • Document, aggregate, and report audit results, issues, lessons learned, and recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Prepare detailed audit reports summarizing non-conformance and audit outcomes in a clear and accessible manner.
  • Analyze and evaluate quality metrics of construction projects.
  • Provide data-driven insights to support process adherence and conformance.
  • Stay up to date with industry standards, regulations, and best practices related to construction and quality.
  • Continuously improve quality control procedures and protocols for region-wide change management.
  • Identify opportunities for process efficiencies within the audit and quality control workflow.
  • Provide training and support to stakeholders on quality control processes, specifications, and best practices.
  • Identify defects, data inconsistencies, and areas for improvement to ensure consistent quality delivery.
