The Network Administrator II is responsible for supporting the agency's enterprise network operations, ensuring secure, reliable, and efficient performance of LAN, WAN, wireless, VoIP, data center, and software-defined networking (SDN) environments. This position provides Tier 3 support, daily operational monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization of the network infrastructure across the agency Headquarters, Regional Offices, and Data Centers.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain network hardware and software including routers, switches, and wireless access points.
- Support LAN, WAN, VPN, VoIP, and SDN technologies across multiple regions.
- Monitor and analyze network performance, ensuring uptime, throughput, and responsiveness meet SLA / OLA requirements.
- Troubleshoot and resolve network incidents and outages, escalating as required.
- Apply patches, firmware updates, and security configurations to ensure compliance with the agency baselines and federal security standards.
- Maintain accurate network diagrams, inventories, and configuration documentation.
- Collaborate with the Senior Network Administrator and Firewall Administrators to maintain enterprise network security and segmentation.
- Provide input into disaster recovery planning, execution, and testing.
- Participate in change management processes for planned maintenance, upgrades, and deployments.
- Support secure remote connectivity solutions and hybrid / cloud networking initiatives.
- Coordinate with vendors and service providers for circuit issues and equipment replacement.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.Hands-on experience with :LAN / WAN infrastructure and routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP)
Wireless networking and controllersVoIP and QoS implementationsData center networking technologiesSoftware-defined networking (SDN) solutionsStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in complex networked environments.Knowledge of federal IT security requirements (e.g., FISMA, NIST).Certifications
Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or minimum 7 years' experience in network administration.(Preferred) Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE).(Preferred) Experience supporting network operations in a federal or regulated environment.(Preferred) Familiarity with Palo Alto firewall integration and cloud networking (Azure / AWS).Other Requirements
