Gang Specialist - Nebraska State Penitentiary (Open)
The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) is seeking a Gang Specialist responsible for identifying, monitoring, and documenting gang members. As an integral component of the Rehabilitative Services division of NDCS, the objective of the NDCS Gang Unit is to pave the way for successful reintegration for individuals involved in security threat group activities. Duties
Coordinate the collection and analysis of information related to gang activity at their designated facility.
Provide training on the identification, monitoring, and management to team members at their designated facility.
Monthly review of available information to determine groupings of gang members in assigned living locations, work details, or organized recreational activities.
Lead monthly facility gang committee meetings and attend gang unit meetings in the community.
Generate information and intelligence products specific to gangs and gang members that will aid decision makers in appropriately classifying incarcerated individuals to jobs and custody levels.
Assist facility leadership in identification and implementation of strategies to disrupt gang activity.
Requirements / Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications :
Post-high school coursework / training in Criminal Justice or related Behavioral field and three years of progressively responsible corrections experience. Experience or coursework / training in supervision and leadership. Must be able to legally possess firearms and ammunition.
Preferred Qualifications :
Other : Valid driver's license required. Applicants accepting a job offer must pass the following pre-employment exams in this order : medical exam, and at a randomly announced time, pass a drug test. Once at the Staff Training Academy, must successfully complete the fully paid NE Corrections Training Program.
