Job description0-5 years of relevant experience. Engineer Intern (EI) certification required; Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred. Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Enthusiasm for learning and collaborating with team members. Familiarity with NCDOT and / or SCDOT design standards and plan preparation procedures is preferred. Experience with OpenRoads Designer (ORD) or 3D modeling is a plus.
Overview
Apollo Technical has an immediate need for a Roadway designer / engineer in the Raleigh NC area. This is a full time long term opportunity with a busy civil engineering firm.
Responsibilities
- Utilize AASHTO Green Book, Roadside Design Guide, DOT standards, and relevant guidelines / memos to establish design criteria for transportation projects.
- Apply geometric design and roadside safety principles to develop projects such as interstates, interchanges, new roadways, roadway widenings, intersection enhancements, bridge replacements, and multi-modal initiatives.
- Create signing, pavement marking, and traffic control plans in compliance with MUTCD standards.
- Generate design plans using OpenRoads Designer (ORD).
- Prepare accurate construction cost estimates.
- Develop bid documents, including special provisions, to support project bidding processes.
