Summary

Kairos High School is looking for a talented and committed paraprofessional to serve our exceptional learners with love, excellence, agency, and diversity.

Kairos paraprofessional work both 1 to 1 with students and within small group interventions. They are committed to providing students with a full continuum of services within an inclusive school.

Kairos paraprofessionals work closely with special educators, the general education teams, and other service providers within multidisciplinary teams to support educational programming for students that is both individualized & rigorous.

To achieve these outcomes, Kairos paraprofessionals support educators with student progress monitoring and goal setting; case management and compliance;

parent and stakeholder engagement; as well as lesson planning & the delivery of effective teaching practices for all students.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Follows all policies, rules and procedures of Kairos Academies.
  • Papers and homework collected should be organized, labeled, and placed within the lesson plans at the direction of the special education team.
  • Maintains the confidentiality of student information in compliance with school policies, state law, and federal law.
  • Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of materials or skills initially introduced by the teacher.
  • Assists the teacher in devising strategies for reinforcing materials or skills based on an understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities.
  • Guides independent study, enrichment work, and intervention work set up and assigned by the teacher.
  • Provides escort and assistance to children as necessary throughout a variety of school and community settings.
  • Checks students’ work, corrects papers, and supervises testing and make-up work, as

assigned by the teacher.

  • Assists the teacher in maintaining work and study areas, equipment, materials and facilities.
  • Assists the student(s) assigned to the paraprofessional in such physical tasks as putting on and taking off outerwear, moving from room to room, using the lavatory, etc.

  • Operates teaching aids, i.e., VCRs, computers, tape recorders, etc.
  • Alerts the teacher to any problem or special information about an individual student.
  • Assists with the supervision of children during regular play periods.
  • Assists with data progress monitoring responsibilities of the teacher.
  • Assists with lunch, snack, clean up, wash up, and toilet routines as necessary per student IEP.
  • Assists with health-related procedures such as, but not limited to, feeding, tube feeding as necessary per student IEP.
  • Assists with lifting, positioning, carrying, toileting, clean intermittent catheterization and suctioning when trained by a certified professional as necessary per student IEP.
  • Assists the teacher in dealing with students who have challenging behaviors per student IEP or behavior support planning.

Technology

Competence in Microsoft Office applications and ability to use a variety of computer applications and platforms. Ability to use basic office equipment.

Knowledge and experience in using a computer-based student Information Management system.

Safety Duties & Responsibilities

Qualifications

High school diploma (teacher aide paraprofessionals certified). Experience working with children is preferred.

Physical Demands

The employee at any time needs to be able to lift, stoop, kneel and move up to 50

pounds independently or a child’s weight with assistance as appropriate.

Regular attendance on the job is expected.

Schedule :

  • In-person teaching Monday through Friday 7 : 30am 4 : 00pm
  • Some weekends and evenings will be required

Saint Louis, MO 63118 : Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required). Please note, this is not a remote position.

All Kairos teachers are required to deliver in-person instruction onsite, in our school in St. Louis.
