Position : Nurse Practitioner (NP) / Physician Assistant (PA)
Department : Dermatology
Job Summary
The Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant is a licensed practitioner who is responsible for managing health problems and coordinating health care for the patient in accordance with State and Federal rules and regulations and the nursing / PA standards of care (assessment of health status, diagnosis, development of plan of care and treatment, implementation of treatment plan, and evaluation of patient status).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Professional Responsibilities :
- Functions independently to perform age-appropriate history and physical for patients.
- Orders and interprets diagnostic and therapeutic tests relative to patient’s age-specific needs.
- Prescribes appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities
- Analyzes patient data to determine health status, verifies diagnosis based on findings.
- Designs a plan of care to attain / promote, maintain and / or restore patient health
- Facilitates the patient’s transition to appropriate medical doctor for surgical intervention.
- Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members by making appropriate referrals.
- Facilitates staff, patient and family decision making by providing educational tools.
- Maintains a positive culture within the health care system.
- Reports to work on time and willing to stay late if necessary to provide patient care.
- Maintains the Electronic Medical Record System timely and efficiently.
- Performs procedures when necessary
QualificationsEducation and Experience
Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing / Physician AssistantGraduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program or Physician Assistant ProgramCurrent Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Licensure (if Applicable)Current CNOR / CRNFA (if applicable) certificationCurrent provider card in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac LifeSupport (ACLS); PALS provider card as required by department and facilityStrong computer skillsPreferred Qualifications
CPR CertificationPrevious EMR experienceMinimum 2 years’ experience in the Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant roleCurrent Nurse Practitioner certification in specialty area
