Facility Overview
At Ocean View Psychiatric Health Facility, we are passionate about serving as a community resource to provide the highest quality inpatient services.
Ocean View is currently a 39-bed voluntary acute in-patient facility for patients 18 years and older, offering private rooms and individualized care using a multi-disciplinary approach focused on compassionate care and best practices.
We successfully expanded our facility to include a PHP and IOP. Additionally, we are in the process of growing our Long Beach facility to 80 beds and will be developing to new locations in Southern California soon.
Intake Social Worker 1 Position Overview
Pay : $26.00 - $32.00 / Hour
Ocean View Social Workers play crucial roles in recovery for each of their patients. Under the supervision of the Director of Social Services, the Social Worker 1 provides general casework services and psychotherapy to assigned patients and their families.
Coordinates treatment with other agencies such as Adult Protective Services and County and Department of Health and Human Services.
Responsible for activities including data collection, group therapy, interdepartmental consultation, mentoring interns, and volunteer staff as a preceptor.
Conduct crisis interventions and provide immediate support during times of emotional distress or psychiatric emergencies.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of client progress, treatment plans, and interventions. Responsible for additional duties as assigned by the Clinical Director, Director of Social Services, or Social Worker II staff.

Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or Counseling from an accredited college or university.
- Two (2) years direct service experience with severely and persistently mentally ill patients in an inpatient or outpatient health care setting (internship and / or practicum time may be substituted).
- Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of basic medical / psychiatric terminology and psychopharmacology.
- Demonstrated ability to assess the mental status and psychosocial needs of severely mentally ill patients visually and audibly.
- Ability to handle stressful situations and work with patients who may have challenging behaviors.
- Ability to critically handle unexpected challenges in a psychiatric setting and create a plausible solution in a team centered environment.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities to effectively handle a diverse caseload.
- Ability to speak, read, and write legibly in English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience as a MFTi or registered ACSW.
- Bilingual English / Spanish.
