ABOUT Hermosa
Hermosa, located approximately 75 miles south-east of Tucson, Arizona, is the only advanced mining project in the United States as of 2023 that could produce two federally designated critical minerals—manganese and zinc—as well as silver and lead. The project has the potential to help power the nation’s clean energy future, strengthen the domestic supply chain of critical minerals, grow the local economy, and improve lives in Santa Cruz County and the surrounding community for generations to come.

ABOUT THE ROLE
The Project Engineer - Underground Development & Construction, will support the planning and execution of underground construction activities, with a focus on shaft sinking, lateral development, and associated infrastructure. Key responsibilities include ensuring adherence to project schedules, budgets, and quality standards, while maintaining strict compliance with health, safety, environmental, and community relations requirements. This role will be based at the mine site, near Patagonia, AZ.
Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to :
Ensures that work is always executed in a safe mannerEnsures that S32 corporate safety and business goals are met or exceededEnsures that project construction activities and services are executed in conformity with S32’s environmental and community relations policies and plansAssist with the preparation of Sourcing Strategies for major works packages as requiredAssists with preparation of annual budgets with input and assistance from the Project Controls TeamReviews project construction schedulesAssists with timely submission of contractor progress and cost status reports to the Project Controls TeamAssists with implementation of remedial recovery action as requiredEnsures strict compliance with S32 Change Management processesEnsures timely delivery of project construction services to internal stakeholdersCoordinates construction contractor risk assessments with input and assistance from the S32 Risk Specialist, S32 Engineering Department, Consultants, internal stakeholders and the S32 Construction TeamEnsure that S32 Virtual Design and Construction initiatives are properly resourced, and that work is executed in accordance with applicable S32 technology objectivesMonitor VDC and BXP technology objectives utilizing the S32 approved VDC and BXP metricsExtract data from sources such as plans, engineering reports, and specifications to organize the work of construction contractors and vendorsCoordinate any work inputs from S32 Site ServicesCoordinate the construction engineering program, including the exchange of engineering information among S32, design engineer, and contractors to ensure effective communication and the addressing and tracking of needs, requirements, and issuesWorks with Project Services to ensure that equipment and material deliveries are coordinated and ensure that Care & Preservation requirements are correctly implemented and documentedCoordinate the preparation and revision of technical work procedures consistent with project design and construction requirementsParticipate in pre-construction planning efforts during the design and development phases of projects, including the coordination and implementation of the constructability review program, HAZOPs, and development of commissioning programAnalyze situations, identify and forecast pertinent problems and evaluate realistic options; and recommend / implement appropriate course of actionManage the issue of equipment and bulk materials to ContractorsPeriodically reviews the Construction Management Execution Plan to ensure conformity with current requirements, and revise as requiredOrganizes and oversees the maintenance and safe, effective utilization of tools, equipment, supplies, and inventoriesTrains, guides, and evaluates the performance of direct reports, making recommendations for improvement where requiredAssists with the compilation of construction documentation for upcoming work packagesIdentifies contractor performance issues and works internal stakeholders to resolve issuesEnsures compliance with applicable regulatory and building code requirements including Federal, State, and LocalEnsures conformity with industry codes of practice and standardsParticipates in the S32 site Quality Circles initiativeEnsures that all work conforms with the specified quality standardsAssigns, schedules, reviews, and evaluates work of subordinatesPerforms other duties as assigned by the Manager Project Execution and ConstructionABOUT YOU
You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following :
